Ford is really hoping that all of its production delays and associated component problems have been left behind and that the Bronco can enter the 2022 model year without further issue. There have been some recent positive developments in this area, including recently discovered clues that indicate a couple of entirely new Bronco variations may be just around the corner.

Ford entered the challenging Rebelle Rally with an almost stock Bronco Sport in 2020 and won this all-female off-road event. This year, Ford will be back, not just with Bronco Sport, but with the full Bronco lineup, including two and four-door models, driven by two more women-only crews. 

While straight ahead acceleration may not have seemed to be a "top of the list" item for Ford's engineers as they developed the new Bronco, as it turns out, the Bronco does very well as far as 0-60mph is concerned. Let's take a look at how it fares against its competitors, as well as how engine choice and equipment packages affect the Bronco's performance numbers.

Will the high-performance Broncos of tomorrow will be able to compete with the Wrangler 392 and Defender without a proper V8 engine under the hood? Ford was very proud when the manufacturer originally introduced the twin-turbo V6 Raptor, but for 2022, this model will be getting a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 with 760 hp straight from the Shelby GT500. This is a strong indication that buyers of high-performance trucks believe more in classic V8 configuration than in high-tech downsized engines that might match V8 power and performance, but not its feel or image. So, if Ford realized that Raptor needs a V8, will they understand that Bronco needs one, too?

The unprecedented hype surrounding the Bronco brand shows that Ford has hit home runs with both the resurrected Bronco and the Bronco Sport. Getting to this point has been an enormous effort for Ford, so the questions remain, what will be the next chapter in the Bronco's story? What can we expect in the future, and in which direction will Ford steer this revolutionary SUV?

 

After having to endure so many delays that came with a seemingly endless stream of bad news, including a global pandemic, and various small but significant problems with suppliers, Bronco fans were due for some good news.

Yesterday, June 15th, they finally got some. 

In addition to its plans of turning the Bronco into a separate sub-brand and creating dedicated dealerships, the company is organizing a very interesting driving school, with locations all over America. Branded the Bronco Off-Roadeo, the first of these schools will open in July in Horseshoe Bay, Texas, which is just outside of Austin.
